HugTone Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 10 September 2026
This policy applies to everyone who uses HugTone, on hugtone.com and in the iPhone and Android apps. It forms part of our [Terms of Service](/terms). Breaking it can cost you your account permanently, and where the law requires it we will report you to the authorities.
1. You must be 18 or older
HugTone is for adults only.
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or use any part of the service.
- Every account must pass identity verification with a government-issued ID. We check the date of birth on that document.
- We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to use HugTone. If we find an account belongs to a minor, we close it immediately and permanently ban the phone number used to create it.
- Never bring a minor into any HugTone interaction, including photographs, messages, calls, or a meeting arranged through the service.
If you believe a minor is using HugTone, email hugtonesupport@gmail.com immediately.2. Nothing illegal
You may not use HugTone to commit, plan, promote, or assist any criminal offence, including but not limited to:
- Human trafficking and sex trafficking, in any form, including recruiting, harbouring, transporting, advertising, or obtaining a person for exploitation.
- Child sexual exploitation and abuse, including the creation, possession, request, or sharing of child sexual abuse material. We report this to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and to law enforcement.
- Sexual violence, coercion, or any non-consensual sexual act.
- Prostitution, escort services, compensated dating, or any exchange of sexual activity for money, goods, employment, immigration benefit, or anything else of value.
- Stalking, harassment, threats of violence, or violent extremism.
- Fraud, scams, phishing, money laundering, or any attempt to obtain money, financial details, cryptocurrency, or gift cards from another member.
- Selling or supplying drugs, weapons, or other controlled goods.
3. Prohibited content
Do not upload, send, display, or link to:
- Sexually explicit content. Pornography, genitalia, sexual acts, or content whose purpose is sexual gratification. This applies to profile photos, private photos, type-preference photos, messages, video calls, and every other part of the service.
- Non-consensual intimate imagery. Any sexual or intimate image of a person who did not consent to it being taken or shared, including so-called revenge pornography and images altered to depict someone sexually.
- Content involving minors in any sexual context, real, drawn, generated, or implied.
- Depictions of sexual violence, coercion, or degradation.
- Someone else's likeness or identity. Do not impersonate another person, use photographs of someone who is not you as your profile photo, or misrepresent your age, gender, or identity.
- Content that harasses, degrades, or incites hatred or violence against a person or group, including on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
- Personal information belonging to others, published without their permission.
- Commercial solicitation, advertising, recruitment, or promotion of other services.
4. Prohibited behaviour
You may not:
- Aid, abet, encourage, facilitate, or instruct anyone else in any conduct this policy prohibits, or help them evade our enforcement.
- Pressure, coerce, threaten, or manipulate another member into sexual activity, into meeting you, or into sending money, images, or personal information.
- Continue contacting someone who has declined, blocked, or asked you to stop.
- Record, screenshot, or redistribute another member's photographs, messages, or video calls without their permission.
- Create a new account after being banned, or hold multiple accounts.
- Buy, sell, transfer, or share accounts or connection credits.
- Attempt to defeat, disable, or work around our verification, moderation, blocking, or reporting systems, or scrape, probe, or attack the service.
5. Meeting in person
HugTone alerts you when a compatible member is nearby, but every meeting is your own decision and your own responsibility.
- Meet in a public place the first time.
- Consent is required for any physical contact, always, and can be withdrawn at any time.
- HugTone does not arrange, supervise, chaperone, or monitor real-world meetings, and does not conduct criminal background checks.
6. How we enforce this
- Profile photos are screened by automated systems before they are visible to anyone else, and are rejected for sexual content, violence, weapons, graphic or illegal content, drugs, hate symbols, or any person who appears to be a minor. Private photos, which no other member can see, are screened for child sexual abuse material, pornography, illegal activity, and weapons aimed at people.
- Any member can report or block any other member from within the app or the website. Reports reach a person who reviews the account and the reported content.
- Depending on what we find, we may remove content, restrict features, suspend an account, permanently ban an account and the phone number behind it, or refer the matter to law enforcement.
- We do not read your private messages routinely and we do not proactively scan message text. Reports, blocks, and our review of reported accounts are how we act on message content.
- Serious cases, particularly those involving minors, trafficking, or credible threats of violence, are escalated immediately and reported to the appropriate authorities.
7. Reporting a violation
Report from inside the app or website using Report on the person's profile or conversation, or email hugtonesupport@gmail.com. Tell us who, what, and when, and include a screenshot if you have one. If someone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.
8. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced in the app. Continuing to use HugTone after a change means you accept the updated policy.
